JAMMU, Sept 7: Organised by the Mountaineering Association of J&K, the 15th J&K State Sport Climbing Championship shall take place at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here tomorrow.
The two-day championship shall be inaugurated by Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma in the presence of former Joint Secretary of J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma, MLA, Ashwani Sharma, Assistant Director, Jammu Doordarshan, Sanjeet Khajuria and Sports Officer, Rajan Sharma.
Almost all the prominent climbers of J&K including the zonal champions have confirmed their participation for the event and a keen tussle is on the cards in almost all the categories.
In total, around 200 climbers from various districts of the state including Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Samba, Pulwama and other districts, where district Sport climbing competitions have already been conducted, shall vie for honors.
Shawetica Khajuria, a qualified national judge in sport climbing shall be the president of the jury of the competition while vice president of Mountaineering Association of J&K and secretary of J&K Mountaineering and Allied Sports Club, Yogeshwar Kumar is the organising secretary.
Technical and logistic support has been provided by Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi. The championship has been sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
The Association has made elaborate boarding, lodging and transport arrangements for the outstation participants and officials to make the event a memorable one. |
