Jammu, Oct 24: Eight months in power have transformed not just the status but transformed the psyche of the BJP ministers as well. This was reflected once again when they changed the yeas old culture observed at the birth anniversary of great visionary late Pandit Prem Nath Dogra. All of them chose to take comfort in the cozy chairs at the party programme and remained oblivious of the presence of veterans, mostly contemporaries of the great leader. When out of power these senior leaders would sit on the floor on mats and consider it a privilege to do so , said the party insiders adding that Pandit Dogra has all through remained an ideologue besides a strong source of inspiration for them. In the past on this particular day all the leaders would clean the floor and take pride to sit along with workers. But this year the organizers changed this culture and kept arrangement for chairs for the ministers, which looked conspicuous and the presence of ministers more of a formality than out of respect they would shower earlier.
These are the same leaders who until a year ago would assert it loudly that it is the hardwork and dedication of visionary like Pandit Dogra which has made the party grow and evolve like a peoples movement in the state and that BJP owes its success at hustings to him and his conviction for the welfare of people. Sources said having observed the sudden reversal of the humble culture and observance of the Day with humility out of respect this year by the ministers, there are murmurs in the party rank and file power has gone into the heads of all the ministers who could not bear sitting for some time on the ground. They took it like any other official function they attend daily where sitting in a starched posture is routine and a matter of privilege for them. Sources also said the ministers did address one by one the gathering on the occasion. There was an aberration and a strongly felt deviation from the past practice rather a conventional ritual at the political functions of mentioning the name of the persons present in the function. The BJP ministers skipped this too, and this became conspicuous for the lot who are octogenarians and contemporaries of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, sources said. Most of these people look forward to this day with eagerness as they feel it provides an occasion to get some recognition and also interact with younger lot in the party. Perhaps too busy in their power circles and engrossed in their powerful ministries it was too small a thing to mention the names with respect, said the sources. |
