KATHUA, Oct 24 : Stadium XI clinched the District Handball Championship outplaying Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua by a wafer thin margin 19-18 in the final played at Sports Stadium, here today.
Saleem Ahmed and Naseeb were main scorers from winning Stadium XI team with five goals each while Harshatri netted maximum five goals for GDC Kathua. Kulbushan Singh and Rakesh Kumar officiated the final.
In the valedictory function of this three-day championship, organized by District Handball Association Kathua, general secretary of the J&K Handball Association (JKHA), Ashwani Kumar Raina was chief guest, who gave away the winners and runners-up trophies. Manager Sports Stadium Kathua, Shamsher Singh was guests of honour.
Earlier, president of the district association, Pawan Sharma welcomed the distinguished gathering and presented a brief note of the championship. |
