early times Report
Srinagar, Oct 24: Police have arrested around 36 youth for their alleged involvement in stonepelting and fomenting trouble in south Kashmir during recent protests in the area.
A top police official told Early Times that about 36 boys were arrested in South Kashmir. "All these boys were involved in stone-pelting activities and in creating trouble in the area. We have not invoked any charges against them till now. We are counseling them and won't release them till their parents give a written assurance that these boys won't indulged in such activities in future," he said.
The police official added that counseling is used by police as a strategy to motivate the youth from not getting involved in anti-national activities. "The strategy has already worked in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley where large number of youth were motivated not to get involved in such activities," he said.
