One cop suspended, three shifted; many still evade action Transfer scam surfaces in PHQ 10/26/2015 12:58:57 AM Sumit Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 25: One cop was placed under suspension while three others were shunted out from Police Head Quarters (PHQ) after their involvement surfaced in the alleged scam of manipulation in transfers. " The alleged manipulation in transfers was committed by ministerial staff and after the detection of the same, the Staff Officer (S.O) was placed under suspension while three of his subordinates, who were a few of those who have been glued since long in PHQ, were shifted", informed sources said. The manipulation in transfers came to limelight when a cashier who was transferred again made his appearance at his previous position with fresh transfer order. During verification, it was revealed that the ministerial staff led by a Sub Inspector (S.O) was behind the scam. The senior cops in PHQ placed him under suspension and later shifted to Baramulla and further transferred to Kupwara district. If the official sources are to be believed, the cop in question , by resorting such practice has raised property worth Crores which need to be probed. Others who were shifted including an ASI who was posted out to Kashmir zone, a Head constable (Computer Operator) to Reasi district and a Head Constable t to Jammu zone. Sources further said that apart from this incident, there are number of police officers who defy police's transfer policy or have deep rooted nexus with the senior cops, because of which they have been over staying in the PHQ for the last even 15 years. Pointing at a SP ranked person who is dealing with the legal section for the last over twenty years, a senior cop seeking anonymity said that among over staying list most of the cops are of ministerial staff and legal section.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
