On Accession Day eve, Farooq "bats" for Pakistan
'Situation dangerous'

JAMMU, Oct 25: Desperate for recapturing the lost space in Kashmir to the PDP and "cultivate" the rogue State of Pakistan, NC president and former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah on the eve of the historic Accession Day "batted" for Pakistan and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pursue the Vajpayee line to resolve the Kashmir issue.
"The situation in Kashmir is 'very dangerous'. Even if the Prime Minister announces a Rs one lakh crore package, it is not going to win heart and minds of people (Muslims of Kashmir) by only dishing money. Final solution of the State has to be done with Pakistan. Otherwise we will suffer. The terrorists will keep on coming. What do we have to show other than God's beauty that we have. And tourists don't come when there is fear that their life is not safe. Has the Prime Minister tried to remove that fear in the mind of people of India," Abdullah told and added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should follow Atal Bihari Vajpayee's policy of friendship with Pakistan to find a solution to Kashmir issue, saying he will not be able to win hearts and minds of Kashmiris merely by doling out packages.
"Vajpayee ji said that he will talk about Kashmir within realms of humanity (Insanayaat ke daayre mein) and this is what the present Government should do.
I would tell him that if he wants to be the next Mahatma Gandhi of India, then be strong to fight those forces that are trying to divide this nation, divide religion, divide areas. Fight them and become greater than Mahatma Gandhi," Farooq Abdullah said while advocating the need for resolving the Kashmir issue.
In other words, Farooq Abdullah not only batted for Pakistan, which has been killing our soldiers, terrorizing the people of the State, especially the border people in Jammu province's Kathua, Samba and Jammu districts and causing mayhem in the State, but also batted for that line that seeks to empower Pakistan to exercise co-equal sovereign powers with India in this part of the State, demilitarize it, render the borders and line of Control irrelevant and grant to the State self-governance. To be more exact, Farooq Abdullah urged Prime Minister Modi to undo all that the nation did during all these 68 years of the accession to integrate the State with India politically, constitutionally and financially and help create a situation in the State that annihilates the minorities like what happened in theocratic, feudalistic and Sunni-dominated Pakistan, a State condemned as epicenter of global terrorism by the civilized world nations.
It bears recalling that the people of Jammu and Ladakh had rejected the Vajpayee line in May 2004 by defeating the BJP candidates seeking re-entry in the Lok Sabha. The message from Jammu and Ladakh to the BJP was that they shall not allow the BJP or any other political party to dilute the Indian stand on J&K. Their attitude has not changed a bit since then. They continue to hold the view that the Vajpayee line was the most dangerous line.
It is not only Farooq Abdullah who vouches for the Vajpayee line. Almost all the political parties and even secessionists like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik support the Vajpayee line. And everyone knows why all the Kashmir-based parties and separatist outfits hail Vajpayee. They hail the Vajpayee line because "it suits them", feel Jammuites.
Farooq Abdullah - apart from advocating the Vajpayee line - also expressed the view that J&K might not remain a one State if Prime Minister Modi continued to pursue policies he has been pursuing since May 2014. "I am afraid of another thing, the breaking of the State of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Jammu going one way, Leh going other and the Valley going other way. This is more dangerous also. People (politicians) are not waking up to the dangers that are in front of us," Farooq said.
Farooq didn't say that it is because of the anti-Jammu and anti-Ladakh policies being evolved and ruthlessly implemented by the Kashmiri ruling elite that the people of Jammu province and Ladakh region have been demanding trifurcation of the State. Nor did he say that the people of these two regions hate and abhor the Kashmiri ideology and the Kashmiri hobnobbing with Pakistan whose single point agenda all along was, and is, to annex J&K and create problems for minorities in the State.
What Farooq Abdullah said about Pakistan, Kashmir issue and Vajpayee line must expose his dubious and obnoxious approach towards the issues facing the people of the State. It should establish once and for all that he is no different from others in Kashmir. He must remember that the people of Jammu province and Ladakh are as they are and that they will never endorse any step that further widens the already rather wide gulf between the State and New Delhi and harms their rights and interests as well as the interests of the refugees and other marginalized sections of society.
