| Rajouri link roads in bad condition | | | early times report
Rajouri, Oct 25: Most of the link roads in the Rajouri town and in its vicinity are in dilapidated condition. Thousands of people inhabitants of areas like Dassal, Mankot, Gurdhanbala, Thudi, Kheora, Ujjhan ( PG College road), Danidhar (BGSBU road), Kotdhara etc are facing many problems during their journey to and fro journeys to Rajouri town and other parts of the State.
Many roads are in such a bad condition that even the transporters have decreased the frequency of their passenger vehicles to save their vehicles from damage on these bumpy and pothole filled roads.
"For the last many years Rajouri-PG college-Ujjan-Darhal road is in very Bad shape. Many offices including district hospital and PG College, various high/higher secondary schools are situated on this but the authorities seems to be in deep slumber and seems to be in no mood to mitigate the problems of the people" said Mushtaq Bhat.
Ramesh Kumar, AEE while talking to reporters said that the proposal for the repairing of Rajouri-Ujjan road has been submitted to the higher authorities and immediately after the approval and releasing of funds the work on this road will be started.
Mushtaq Ahmed had lead a protest demonstration on Saturday against the district administration and PWD(R&B) officials against the casual approach of the concerned authorities towards pathetic condition of Rajouri-Ujjan-Darjhal road.
Similarly inhabitants of Darhal under the leadership of Karamat Malik had held protest demonstration recently and alleging that for the last more than 5 years widening and repair work was initiated on this road after several incidents of accidents in which about 40 persons were killed.
"Since then the widening and repairing work on this road is going on snail pace and people especially vehicle owners including transporters facing many difficulties while driving on this bumpy road and the commutes especially employees and students facing many difficulties in the absence of very few passenger vehicles on this road" had said Karamat Malik.
.At both the places protesters have warned the authorities to held large scale protest demonstration before the office of Deputy Commissioner if the repair work on this road was not started within a week time soon.
" The matter was several times taken up with the concerned officials and district administration but despite hollow promises nothing has been done to repair this about 22 kilometers long road which is in dismal condition and is full of potholes" said Karamat Malik.
Rajouri-Dassal, Rajouri - Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) , Rajouri-Kotdhara , Rajouri_Thanamandi- Poonch etc roads are also in very bad shape
Potholes, water dumping at many places have been creating problems for the commuters as well as for the vehicle owners.
Abdul Majid Wani , Sectional Engineer (SE) PWD (R&B when contacted had said that government has released money for the repairs/construction/ black toping of all the major roads including Rajouri-Darhal, Rajouri-BGSB University, Rajouri-Kheora roads and tenders have also been called.
But, except on Rajouri-Thanamandi road no repair work was taken in hands by the concerned agencies and people still facing many problems during their to and fro journeys. |
