Army organizes eye camp | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Poonch, Oct 25: Indian Army today organized an eye camp at 425 Field Hospital under operation Sadbhavana for the people of villages close to the line line of control around Poonch. The region is infrastructurally and economically backward. People have to travel long distances to avail facilities of eye surgery. The army has always been forthcoming to help these villagers by improving their living standards and providing medical facilities. The camp was inaugurated by Col Vikas Lakhera, Sena Medal, Deputy Commander of Poonch Brigade. Eye camp was organized on by 425 Field Hospital at Poonch. The camp has been organized in collaboration with Pritam Spiritual Foundation, Poonch. Eye specialist, Maj Shailesh Mogra from 150 GH examined 55 eye patients in the camp out of which 20 have been recommended for cataract surgery with intraocular lens and these patients will be taken for surgery in phase - II. The cataract surgery with intraocular lens will be performed free of cost at 150 GH at Rajouri. Brig NS Brar, Commander of Poonch Brigade and other civil dignitaries of Poonch town to include Professor Jagbir Singh of Pritam Spiritual Foundation, Dr Mumtaz Bhatti, CMO, Dist Hospital Poonch, Dr Raina, Dy Dir Health services (Retd) & Dr KK Kapoor, CEO (Retd), were among the dignitaries present at the occasion. Free medicines and food were provided by 425 Field Hospital for the patients. The camp received an overwhelming response from the local populace and they requested that such eye camps should be held more frequently in the region. |
