Court extends remand of Naved, 3 others | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 26: In the Udhampur terrorists' attack case, NIA Special Judge Y P Kotwal today extended 14 days judicial remand of LeT's Pak terrorist Mohammad Naved alias Usman, Khursheed Ahmed Bhat, Showkat Ahmed and Shabzar Ahmed. While extending the remand of four accused, the judge observed that the special PP NIA had filed an application seeking extention of period of investigation and judicial custody beyond the period 90 days extendable up to 18o days in respect of Naved, Khursheed Ahmed Bhat and Showkat Ahmed and Shabzar Ahmed under section 43-D(2)(b) of unlawful activities (Prevention) Act 1967 on the ground that the accusations against the accused were well founded for the commission of offences and since the investigation into the instant case is required to be made in depth to unearth the larger conspiracy hatched by the accused, which needs considerable time and it would not be possible for the NIA to complete the investigation for this cumbersome case within 90 days. The court observed that perusal of the CD file reveals that the investigation of the case is in progress and pertains to different places of J&K and more persons are allegedly involved in the conspiracy and further investigation for same is required to be conducted and some of the co-accused are still absconding which is causing difficulties in unearthing the larger conspiracy behind the attack, so it is not possible to complete the investigation within 90 days and extended the time beyond the 90 days.
