TED fails to take possession of ITI building, Training of Youth affected 10/27/2015 12:53:42 AM G S Asgotra Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 26: The callous approach of Technical Education Department (TED) could be gauged from the fact that the construction of ITI building, Bani is almost completed by the executing agency (R&B) but the department has failed to take possession of newly constructed building. Source in department informed Early Times that the executing agency, Roads and Buildings Department, Bani has sent communiqué to Director Technical Department, Jammu that the building of ITI was almost complete but the department concerned has not replied on it so far. Source further said that owing to delay in taking possession of newly constructed building, the ITI administration has compelled to manage the classes in insufficient space, hired by the department since the ITI had started functioning in Bani. It is pertinent to mention here that the construction of ITI Bani was started in financial year in 2011-12 with cost of Rs, 2.46 Crores and fixed the date of completion in 2012-13 but due to some reason, the building had not completed in stipulated time. "Now that the building is almost completed, the department has failed to take the possession of the newly constructed building and superintendent of ITI is forced to run classes in rented building of Block Development Department", he said. An employee of ITI wishing anonymity said that tall claims Of government to provide technical education to the youth from far flung areas was proving fluke, adding , "Despite the fact that TED has sanctioned five courses to ITI, Bani but due to insufficient space in rented building, three courses are being taught so far and two major courses which will skill the rural youth- 'Electrical and Motor mechanic' is yet to be started", he said.
