'For NC, Accession day is black day' | | | Early Times Report jammu, Oct 26: The opposition NC today lashed out at those who celebrated the Accession day with great pomp and show, termed the day of Accession as a black day and declared that the Accession of the State with India was temporary and conditional. "The day the State acceded to India was a black day. The Accession of the State with India was temporary and conditional. Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and its future has yet to be decided. Those who celebrated the Accession day today only vitiated the atmosphere in the State," said NC president Farooq Abdullah's younger brother Mustafa Kamaal while condemning those in Jammu who celebrated the day of Accession as a great day in the political history of the State as well as the political history of India. What Mustafa Kamaal said was nothing but the party's line. That it was so could be seen from the fact that not a single NC leader either from Kashmir or Jammu today spoke a word of praise for Maharaja Hari Singh, who on October 26, 1947 took a momentous decision to accede Jammu and Kashmir with India. Omar Abdullah, who tweets almost everyday to express his controversial and provocative views on events he considers important, didn't tweet today to hail the Accession day. Last week, Omar Abdullah had told the visiting Canadian delegation that the State only acceded to India and not merged with it and also batted for Pakistan. Besides, he demanded autonomous status for the State. And his father Farooq Abdullah only two days before asked New Delhi to resolve Kashmir issue by taking on board Pakistan and its agents in Kashmir. And still, they shamelessly term themselves as mainstream leaders, which they never were. They all through subverted the polity both from within and outside to nourish their communal constituency in the Valley and they continue to do so. They are as fanatic as Geelani, Mirwaiz, Malik and Shah. In fact, they have harmed the national interest in the State more than the separatists. Now that the NC has termed the Accession day as a black day, it is time for the Election Commission of India to derecognize the NC and for the authorities to start legal proceedings against the owners of the party who day in and day out violate the State constitution and Constitution of India and question the political status of Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, hundreds of oppressed people in PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan have described the Pakistani invasion on Jammu and Kashmir as a black day. In fact, they observed October 22 as a black day in PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan and demanded independence from Pakistan. What any irony! |
