Early Times Report
jammu, Oct 26: Enjoying strong political clout, the transfer industry players in Higher Education department are learnt to have forced Minister Naeem Akhtar to change his decision of transferring college Assistant Professors in bulk, and affect transfers through intermittent orders.
Sources informed Early Times that a list of total 233 Assistant Professors and half a dozen College Principals was prepared by higher officials of Higher Education department, nearly a month back and it was decided by Minister to affect the transfers in bulk. "The transfer order was approved by Minister but at the eleventh hour it was withheld and Minister had left for Hajj", sources had reported, adding it was assumed that Minister would issue orders after returning from Hajj.
"The Minister had returned in the first week of October but now the month is closing but there is no word from the Minister so far, Inferring that transfer industry has managed to prevail over the decision", sources said.
They further informed that few days back, it was learnt that Minister Naeem Akhtar was apprehending trouble in mass transfers ."Government thodi hi girani hai, itne logon ko ek sath transfer karke", the Minister had learnt to be said, while discussing the transfer issue with some officials.
Sources said that after assuming charge of Education Minister, Akhtar had reiterated resolve to root out corruption from the department and also to transfer all those Assistant Professors, who have been glued to their posts for the last many years but he failed to take a single step in the directions, obviously due to pressure of transfer industry players.
"Many Jammu based BJP Ministers are also not in favour of bulk transfer of Assistant Professors as majority of these were close to these Ministers. "The transfer industry players had also approached the BJP Ministers, who in turn are learnt to have been pressurizing the Minister not to displace these professors, who are the voters of BJP Ministers", sources said.
The delay in transfer orders, has meanwhile been badly impacting the functioning of those colleges, where there is shortage of professors and schedule for mid semester exams is already issued for December month but syllabus is yet to be completed.
