Early Times Report

Jammu Oct 26: State VHP Patron Dr. Ramakant Dubey threw light on the historic Accord of Accession of J&K State by its ruler Late Maharaja Hari Singh with the Union of India and its paramount importance for the people of the State.
While speaking of media, Dr. Dubey said that the Accession was a basic decision with which the fate of our state was permanently linked with rest of the country. He also gave a small background of impediments unnecessary created by some so called fate-deciders of the country who were virtually hell-bent to handover Jammu-Kashmir to Pakistan. No doubt state was a Muslim majority but Late Maharaja had full right to decide its fate, whether to accede to India or Pak. He was fully authorised to take this decision but some black sheeps were against its Accession to India who were virtually enemies of India including Jammu-Kashmir’s then Prime Minister Ram Chand Kok who had the directions of Pt. Nehru and his conglomerate. However, with the sagacity of mind and prudence of Maharaja, an Instrument of Accession was signed on 26th Oct. 1947 saving the State from going in the hands of Pakistan.
Dr. Dubey also extolled the efforts of the then Government of India which pounced upon the Pak raiders with promptness by its armed forces and foiled their dastardly attempt making our state an integral part of India though some areas are still under the illegal occupation of Pakistan. He pleaded vehemently that 26th October may be given a due national recognition not only in our State but in the whole country by declaring it a gazetted holiday with big celebrations at each level.
