CBI presents challan against Maj Gen, his wife | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 26: CBI’s anti-corruption bureau, Jammu, today presented challan against Maj Gen V K Sharma, then posted as VSM, EX-MH ASC HQ, Northern Command, and his wife Kiran Sharma for possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. According to the CBI, the instant case was registered on the basis of a complaint received from Brig Sanjeev Grover, Adm for the GOC-in-C HQ Northern command pursuant to the court of Inquiry held against then Maj Gen V K Sharma. It is alleged in the FIR that complaint was lodged with CBI Jammu by Brig Grover for investigation into allegations against Maj Gen Sharma pursuant to the court of Inquiry held against him in which it has been alleged that he is in possession of assets disproportionate to his known source of income. During investigation, it transpired that during the check period from January 1, 2001 to June 30, 2012 Maj Gen Sharma and his wife Kiran Sharma had acquired assets worth Rs 74,00,939 which are disproportionate to their known sources of income. The CBI investigation revealed that Sharma and his wife had opened so many accounts in different banks and purchased so many properties and found that both committed the offence of criminal misconduct and both of them were found in possession of unexplained assets, to the extent of approximately Rs 1,13,51,195 with a DA percentage of 110 and presented challan in the court of Special Judge CBI under sections 5(2) read with 5(1) (e) of J&K Pc Act 2006 Samvat and under section 109 of RPC read with 5(1) (e) of J&K PC Act 2006.(JNF)
