Developments on border under watch: Army | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 26: The Army today said that developments along international border are under watch as Pakistan is making all attempts to disrupt peace and harmony especially in Jammu region. Army is maintaining vigil on the border situation in Jammu, Lt Gen K J Singh, GoC-in C Western Command here said while speaking at a function organized to pay tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh commonly Known as Savior of Uri on Accession Day celebration. The Army Commander also exhorted people that local populace, ex- servicemen should act as eyes and ears of the security forces to check the nefarious designs of the neighburing nation. Referring to the recent border skirmishes along International Border (IB) in Jammu in region, he held Pakistan responsible for destabilizing the peace and tranquillity and said, neighbouring country trying to increase militant activities in the region. The GoC-in C Western Command said, we (Army) have to keep hawk’s eye on the LoC and IB at all times. He added that Army preparedness is excellent and enough to take on any security challenge, adding, Army is likely to start a department of veteran affairs from Jan 15 next year. The Army Commander said that as the neighbouring nation is focusing on Jammu, Samba and Kathua border districts and in such chaotic situation Army helping cross border firing victims. Paying tributes to late Brig Rajinder Singh, the GoC-in- applauded his bravery and said, I am privileged to pay homage to valiant solider Brigadier Rajinder Singh, who had laid down his life while protecting integrity and sovereignty of the country. |
