For many casting off ‘Pak occupied Kashmir’ still is ‘regret’ | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 26: The uprooted people from the Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) still are haunted by the heart wrenching memories from the past since 1947 when the stated passed through turbulent times after Maharajha Hari Singh decided to cede with India and signed the ‘Accession treaty’ on Oct 27, 1947 and it was then when Indian army turned savior to many people in Muzaffer bad, Mirpur, and Poonch. A section of displaced people from parts of the PoJK still recall their plight and regret the forcible occupation of their homeland to Pakistan amid their struggle for over last 68 years for their rehabilitation. Recalling their over six decade struggle for their rehabilitation, President Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) Refuge Front Rashpal Singh evoked that displaced people hailing Mirpur, Bhimber, Deva, Batala, Naah and many other localities (now under Pak’s Occupation) have been struggling for the rehabilitation. Singh said that approximately sixty thousand people from minority community were forced to leave their homes and hearths in Pakistan after the partition in 1947 and uprooted people camped at Nagrota, Jhol Camp and many other places just to save their souls where they have come just only for their savior without anything. Quoting an old saying ‘insider who knows all the secrets can bring a palace down’, Singh regretted that during so called Pak Raiders attack some insiders helped them which has turned fatal for the defence of the then frontiers of the state. He also regretted that although the Indian army landed in Kashmir but it only gained control in the local areas and camped there while the people living in areas where the Pak Raiders have launched ‘brutal assault’ resisted it at their own means and bravery. Singh maintained that it was almost a month the people gave a befitting resistance to the Pak Raiders popularly known historically as Pak Kabayli attack and many attained martyrdom while other committed suicide to save their honour and dignity. Recalling that after partition, Pak gaining its control over the ‘economic hub’ of area viz. Muzafferbad of Kashmir and Mirpur, parts of Poonch and Kotli of Jammu region always has its ‘hawkish eye’ to gain control upon the rest of state of J&K. Pertinently when the ice between the two confronting neighbours got brief thaw in 2008, and some members of divided families with a hope to see their own homeland and their people went to Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir and to their surprise it was hellish experience to see how people were living there in Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK). The visitors from Tandon family which visited the pak Occupied Kashmir to see their ancestral homes recall that the terrorism is being nurtured in the area instead of the development of the area and people were living a miserable life in PoK. “Many of them are forced to do menial jobs for their livelihood while others prefer to go abroad to earn their living, the Tandon’s family brings to mind. The family members also evoked that they have gone to other side to see and pay their visit to their home and hearth to which their father breathed last remembering with each breath throughout his life. Concluding his words Mr Rashpal briefly summed up ‘Lamhon Ne Khatha Ki, Sadiyon Ne Saza Payie’ and added that there exists an emotional bondage between the divided families who still look forward to meet each other especially in the crucial times.
