| Danidhar, Dhnore residents protest over 'water scarcity', block road | | | early times report
Rajouri, Oct 31: Inhabitants of Danidhar, Dhnore and its adjoining areas falling under the jurisdiction of Rajouri Municipality today held a mass protest demonstration for about four hours to express their resentment against acute shortage of safe drinking water. They also blocked Rajouri- Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) road for over three hours to register their resentment.
Protesters led by sarpanch of the area blocked Rajouri- Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) road for more than three hours amid slogans against the authorities for taking their genuine problem casually.
Pertinently people especially students of various schools and of BGSBU, faculty and staff members are facing many difficulties due to protests and reached at their destinations at about 1:0 pm after the road was cleared by the protesters after assurances from the Tehsildar and PHE officials.
On getting information of the protest demonstration Abdul Qayoom, Tehsildar along with SHO Rajorui rushed to the spot along with concerned Junior Engineer (PHE) and assured the protesters to resume the water supply within next 24 hours which was snapped due to some unavoidable circumstances for the last many days.
Nissar Khan, Executive Engineer PHE who recently join his duties said, "According to Preliminary investigation it was established that the problem lies with less water pumping by the motors installed by the Mechanical department (PHE).
He added that I am going to visit the areas on Monday and after assessing the ground situation the necessary action will be taken for the smooth supply of water |
