| Corrupt officials get plum postings, BJP fumes | | |

Jammu, Oct 31: The top BJP leadership has expressed concern over awarding of plum postings to the officials, facing corruption charges.
Sources told Early Times the BJP leadership has made it clear that the corrupt officials can't be accommodated and they should be shown the exit door forthwith.
There can't be two set of principles in the governance. "On one-hand the government has suspended and dismissed officials on accusations of being corrupt but at the same time corrupt officials are being accommodated. This goes against the stated government policy," said a senior BJP leader.
The government recently posted two senior officials against whom corruption charges have been framed by the vigilance department. The two officers given prime postings were on the verge of being shunted out when the first list of the corrupt officials was prepared.
"It's clearly mentioned in the agenda-of-alliance that government will give corruption free governance. And it's the basic tenet of the common programme. If such officials are given prime postings it would send a wrong message and would discourage the honest and upright officers," said a BJP leader.
Source said the government has communicated to the central BJP leadership that there were some more external factors due to which these two officers in question were accommodated and they were told in clear and categorical terms that these postings would be a test for them and they could be dismissed at even slight accusation of corruption. |
