JKAC organizes seminar against corruiptinon | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 31: JK Against Corruption has organized a seminar in Commerce College, Jammu with the help of management of Commerce College. Since the population of youths is 65% of total population of India and the team of JK Against Corruption arranged a pledge ceremony at 1.30 pm in college where they motivated students and youth to take an oath for removing corruption in our country. The SSP of Jammu, Uttam Chand was Chief Guest and the Principal of Commerce College, J.L. Bhagat was Guest of Honour In the seminar, the main focus was on malady of rampant corruption in the system highlighting that an act of bribery or misuse of public position or power for the fulfillment of selfish motives or to gain personal gratifications has entered into every fabric of the society having its bad effects taking the shape a cancerous disease in all forms. India figures as the seventh most corrupt country in the world according to Transparency International, a non-government German Organization. Acceptance of gifts and rewards for work done in an official capacity, or obtaining objects or advantages. Illegally, or fraudulent use of public property, acquiring financial resources more than one's income, abuse of public office, avoiding one's duty or avoiding payment of taxes are a few kinds of corruption prevalent in our society today. The most common forms of corruption are taking of bribes (money offered in cash or kind or gift etc), nepotism , misappropriation and patronage ,undue or wrong support by people in position to friends and family members and favoritism). It was impressed upon that the public awareness and vigilance should be increased so that people think twice before indulging in corrupt practices adding that without the co-operation of the common man, the evil of corruption cannot be eradicated. |
