IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu celebrates National Unity 10/31/2015 11:24:57 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 31 : IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu celebrates National Unity Day to commemorate the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The celebration was to pay tribute to the efforts made by the "Iron Man of India" to unite the country. On this occasion, Regional Director, Er. K K Bhat, administered oath among the staff to uphold unity and integrity of India. Regional Director, Er. K K Bhat inaugurated the event with greetings to all participants and children and described Sardar Patel as one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India who is credited with persuading more than 500 princely states to accede to the Indian Union post-Independence. He said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's ideology and heritage can not be forgotten and it is our responsibility to ensure we are united and we stay united. Drawing and painting competition was organized among the children. Subsequently, carom competition among the staff members of Regional Centre Jammu was also organized. Around 50 participants took active part in the competition. Prize distribution function was organized in which the Regional Director, Er. K K Bhat, Assistant Regional Directors, Sh.
