SPCA discusses kennels construction and registration of pet dogs/pet clinics etc

Jammu, Nov 4: Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Roop Nagar, Jammu held its review meeting here today under the chairmanship of Mandeep Kaur (IAS), Municipal Commissioner and Simrandeep Singh (IAS) and Deputy Commissioner, Jammu (Chairman SPCA) in the conference hall of Jammu Municipal Committee (JMC) and deliberated upon various issues related to the subject.
Among others present in this meeting were Joint Commissioner (Adm), R S Jamwal, Dr P R Bharti, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer/Member Secretary SPCA, Jammu, Joint Commissioner (Works), Executive Engineers, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Chief Transport Officer, AEE (Mech), JMC, Range Officer of Forest Department, representative of Police department, Executive members of District SPCA, Jammu and Veterinary Asstt Surgeon SPCA. "The members deliberated upon registration of Society, deployment of more Doctors, Paravets, speeding up the sterilization work, enrollment /selection of members of SPCA, nomination of two members by chairman for the post of Sr Vice President and Joint Secretary, SPCA, Election/nomination of two members for the post of Vice President and treasurer of the society," spokesperson said. He also said that on spot directions were issued to Joint Commissioner (W) & MVO to construct the kennels and other allied works on priority as well as registration of pet dogs/pet clinics etc. The meeting discussed the starting of stray animal treatment camps. Later on Commissioner, JMC conducted the inspection tour of Raghunath Bazar regarding the project development of Ragunath Bazar as a heritage bazaar. Later Commissioner JMC also inspected the Purani Deodi at Meshi Gate and instructed the Joint Commissioner (W) to put up the project regarding the restoration of the old Deodi (Gateways) & stairs leading to Gumat Bazar. Meantime representative of the INTACH were requested to frame comprehensive project report regarding the preservation, maintenance & development of the areas around the Gumat gate. Among others Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, S M Sahini, Consultant INTACH, Joint Commissioner (Adm), Joint Commissioner (W), Joint Director Tourism, Executive Engineer, Tourism, Executive Engineers, Municipal Veterinary Officer and other staff from the Corporation were also present during the city tour.
