DC launches project Nigraan | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar Nov 4: As a part of major initiative to curb the menace of corruption and duplicity in the works being carried out in Rural Development Department (RDD), Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan along with Director RDD Jammu M L Raina today launched project NIGRAAN which a geo-tagging initiative, a brainchild project of a team of RDD Kishtwar headed by Assistant Commissioner Development Kishtwar Akthar Hussain Qazi which is a first kind of initiative in the state launched in Panchayat Poochal-B2 of Block Kishtwar. As per the details available with "Early Times", the people of District Kishtwar today witnessed the launching of an innovative project NIGRAAN which envisages the use of geo tagging feature embedded in an android application 'Geo ODK collect' for data collection and monitoring. The initiative holds special importance for the district, given the difficult geography and terrain of the region. While talking to "Early Times", DC Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan said that the project will help not only in the better documentation of the records but will also help monitor the actual on-ground progress of the work. He said that its application among others enables the submission of GPS coordinates of the work, picture/video of the construction and the details of the beneficiaries. This project would strengthen the monitoring mechanism of various developmental schemes of RDD in general and MGNREGA in particular said Balwan, adding that the project will increase the accountability of Government functionaries at all levels and thus will help check the menace of corruption enabling the government functionaries like CM, Ministers, Directors, DC's also to check and monitor the progress of the work while sitting in offices or from any other place with the help of internet facility on GPRS mode. |
