Head Master attached over dismal maintenance of school

Jammu, Nov 4: Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi today conducted surprise inspection of old city schools and reviewed the status of infrastructure and other facilitates provided to the students at these schools, here.
The schools which were inspected include, Hari Singh Higher Secondary School, City Chowk High School, Jullaka Mohalla Higher Secondary School and Nawabad Girls High School.
The Minister visited City Chowk School and expressed dissatisfaction over the maintenance and upkeep of the school. She found that some of the rooms were locked and students were facing problems due to lack of classrooms.
Taking serious view of the lackadaisical approach of the school Headmaster towards the school, the Minister immediately ordered attachment of the headmaster with CEO. The locked classrooms were got vacated for use of the students and directions were issued to the authorities for ensuring best facilities for the students. Director School Education, Jammu Smita Sethi CEO, Jammu Joginder Sudan and other senior officers accompanied during the inspection.
While inspecting Hari Singh Higher Secondary School, the Minister said the school is one of the oldest school of the city and has to developed on the lines of Heritage School. She visited different classes and asked the teachers to deliver best quality education to students, adding that being prestigious school the results should be among the best.
On the demand of the school principal, Priya directed the Director to prepare the DPR for up gradation of school infrastructure and the project would be taken up at the highest level for requisite funding.
"Hari Singh School has to be developed as an Heritage school and funding would be provided for developing the school as per modern education requirements," she added.
While inspecting Nawabad School, Priya expressed satisfaction over the upkeep and facilities available to the girl students. She enjoined upon the teachers to lay stress on practical aspect of the knowledge and called for giving due time to practical classes.
She said students learn easily by practical and teaching becomes fun in practical classes so proper attention should be paid to explain the concepts with help of their practical applications.
Later, the Minister visited Jollaka Mohalla School and directed the school authorities to ensure that school premises are clean and students are given clean and hygienic surroundings. She said the prestigious mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Swachh Bharat should start from the schools. She directed for disposing.
