SVO sleuths raid LAWDA office | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 16: Sleuths of State Vigilance Organization (SVO) raided the office of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) at Miskeenbagh Dargah here and seized all the official records, sources said on Monday. "We were receiving continuous complaints about the officials encouraging people to resort to illegal constructions in lieu of money. We raided the LAWDA office and seized all the official records. After the scrutiny of these records we will book all the officials involved in these malpractices," a SVO official told a local news agency. "Two officials from LAWDA have indulged in massive loot and have grabbed enormous sum of money from violators after allowing them to resort to illegal constructions. A class 4th employee from LAWDA has accumulated enormous wealth with the help of two former top officials and all the records of the said employee have been seized as well," sources added. "We can tell you with authority that former two top LAWDA officials have resorted to loot and have permitted people to resort to illegal construction after receiving huge sums of money from them," he said adding that soon these corrupt officials would be arrested and exposed. Sources added that a few former LAWDA officials have amassed enormous wealth disproportionate to their known source of income. "These officials think they are the rulers and nobody can touch them. Despite court prohibiting constructions around Dal Lake and its peripheries, these officials violated all the norms and merely to fill their coffers and they allowed people to construct hotels and houses," they said. |
