Uninvited' Omar going Patna to appease Rahul Gandhi | | | Early Times Report sRINAGAR, Nov 16: National Conference working president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in an act of 'appeasing' the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has decided to join his father Farooq Abdullah to attend the oath ceremony of Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister of Bihar at Patna. The first press note issued by the NC said that Nitish called Farooq Abdulalh and invited him for his swearing-in ceremony, which was readily accepted by Farooq. But after sometime another press note stated that Nitish also called Omar Abdullah, who will also be going there. Nitish and Farooq Abdullah have long relations and Farooq has friends and personal relations across the political parties. Nitish doesn't have even any working relation with Omar, who is quite junior to him. "Nitish didn't call Omar Abdullah but only Farooq Abdullah. But he decided and insisted on going there and it's for this reason, another press note was issued," said a senior NC leader, wishing not to be named. The party sources said that Omar insisted as Rahul Gandhi will also be present there. "Omar wants to show up his relation to Rahul Gandhi and also to important non-BJP leaders of national stature. The party sources said though Omar's visit will not be of much significance. He is likely to be overshadowed by all other national leaders including Farooq Abdullah. |
