SMHS Doctor booked for selling expired medicine | | | Javaid Naikoo

Srinagar, Nov 16: Authorities booked a senior doctor posted at SMHS after recovery of expired medicines from his private clinic at Karanagar, Srinagar. Sources said that action against Dr Hayat Muhammad Bhat was taken after he prescribed one female patient Mac-D3 injection which was found as expired. One local, Irfan Shafi Gagroo, who according to sources had purchased injections for her wife from Dr Hayat's Clinic and found its expiry date as Oct 2015. Police sources said that shop has been sealed and the owner Muhammad Saleem has been arrested and a case under FIR No 68/2015 under section 420, 274 RPC has been registered against the accused. Dr Hayat is a senior endocrinologist, posted at the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital and also runs a famous private clinic at Karannagar named as 'Srinagar Endocrine and Diabetes Centre'. Sources said that Dr Hayat was not in his clinic at the time Police raided his clinic, However one employee running Medical Shop was arrested immediately. Police sources said that Doctor Hayat is at large and a team has been constituted to arrest the absconding doctor. A senior doctor at SMHS said that the patient could have died had the injection been administered. Senior Doctor posted at SMHS on the condition of anonymity said that a complaint was lodged against Dr Hayat last year also when he had refused to treat a patient in SMHS. Meanwhile repeated attempts to contact accused Doctor Hayat and Minister for Health, Chowdhry Lal Singh went in vain. |
