Use of latest gadgets will help check pilferages: Zulfkar | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 04: To ensure effective surveillance of movement of food-grains through IP cameras, Minister for CAPD, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today called for establishing dedicated control room in his office and at CAPD Directorates to ensure real-time monitoring of the movement of grains and other food items. Minister said this after installing IP cameras at Chatha food-grains store here today. He also inaugurated newly constructed labourer complex in the vicinity of the store. The Minister said that launching of technology-enabled tools will immensely help in containing certain flaws in the existing ration supply system. Besides, this effort of the department will also be utilized as an instrument to take prompt action against such functionaries of the CAPD Department found negligent in extending services to the consumers. Earlier, the Minister had a meeting to review the progress of enforcement and monitoring wing of the department. The meeting was informed that the checking squads have conducted raids in Reasi, Kathua, Samba and Jammu districts and booked several defaulters. Besides, night patrolling and nakas are also being laid to supervise the movement of trucks carrying rations. He also called for keeping strict check on rates and quality of essentials especially pulses to save the consumers from being cheated by the vested interests. Reviewing the revenue realization by the department, the Minister was informed that 1630 business establishments were inspected and 615 challans issued against the erring outlets in Jammu city during the past 8 months. Besides, 5.50 lakh revenue was realized during the said period. Expressing dismay over less amount of revenue recorded in several other districts of Jammu province, the Minister directed for enhancing the fixed targets by 30 per cent besides strengthening the enforcement wing of the department. Director CA&PD Jammu, Joint Controller Legal Metrology Department and other senior officers of the department attended the meeting. |
