Jammu, Dec 4: The J&K Vigilance Commission today summoned a top official of state Education department in connection with bungling and gross irregularities in purchase and misuse of various gadgets by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) officers. "The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) while taking serious note of the matter, summoned Additional Secretary to the Government, Education Department along with action taken report on the next date of hearing. "The Commission also enquired about the action taken against the delinquent officers and retrieval of huge government property from them," a SVC spokesperson said. The SVC was acting on a complaint against one Rajinder Singh working as Field Officer in the Directorate of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, J&K, regarding bungling and gross irregularities in purchase and misuse of various gadgets meant for official purposes namely, photostat machines, gen-sets, laptops, mobile sets, TV sets, refrigerators etc. The Commission had earlier called for a report from the Directorate of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in light of the allegations. "Even, as per the report forwarded by the Directorate of SSA, domestic items like radio sets, water geysers, fans, lunch boxes, briefcases have been purchased from SSA funds and utilized for personal benefits," the spokesperson said. The report submitted by the Directorate prima-facie discloses that various items, including laptops issued to the officers and officials from time to time since 2007 in their official capacities have not been returned by them till date, which tantamount to mischief and criminal breach of trust on the part of concerned officials of the Department, the SVC said. |
