Mendhar, Dec 4: While a contractor today alleged that he was forced to pay commission to the concerned officials against the work executed by him under MGNREGA, assistant commissioner development (ACD), Poonch, said he should move the state vigilance organisation (SVO) against the "corrupt" officials. Contractor Mohammad Aslam said while he executed a work of Rs 1 lakh under MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) in 2014-15 at Harmutta Gursai, no payment was paid to him. "When I approached the authorities concerned for the payment, they demanded commission. Left with no option, I paid the commission to an employee but despite that the payment was not made," he alleged. He said when he approached panchayat secretary Haq Nawaz and narrated him the whole story, he suggested him to meet a higher official. "When I called upon the higher official, he too demanded commission from me. After the commission was paid, the higher official made a payment of Rs 59,032 which was Rs 22,000 less," he alleged. When contacted over telephone, ACD, Poonch, Basharat Ahmad said he would take stringent action against the officers if they were found guilty. He said the contactor should lodge a written complaint with SVO in this regard. |
