Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 4: Just four days after Early Times published a story regarding discrimination towards Male multipurpose Health workers (MMPHWs) by the Health department regarding their recruitment, authorities Saturday announced a Valley-wide recruitment of MMPHWs.
The Early times published a story titled "MMPHW degree holders cry discrimination" after MMPHW degree holders from Kashmir division informed about discrimination in recruitment schedule of Health department on the basis of gender.
Taking serious note of the issue pertaining to MMPHW degree holders of Kashmir division, authorities for the first time after 2011 under advertisement notice number 07 of 2015 dated 02/12/2015 announced recruitment of MMPHW degree holders in five districts of Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara, Shopian and Pulwama.
As per details it is for the first since 2009 that department of Health has announced recruitment of MMPHW degree holders in Kashmir division and the set unjust norm by Health department was seen as indiscrimination on the bases of gender among MMPHW degree holders.
The MMPHW degree holders thanked Early times for "making authorities accountable for their faults." Pertinently thousands of youth having MMPHW degrees over the years had alleged gender discrimination as no posts were created for them since 2009 in any district of Kashmir. As per details around 3000 youth of Kashmir till date have bagged MMPHW degrees from different colleges of J&K and outside state in past seven years and more around 4000 youth are enrolled in such colleges this time too. These degree holders had also alleged that contrary to uninterrupted recruitments of FMPHWs, time to time, concerned department did not advertised a single post for MMPHW degree holders in any part of Kashmir since 2009. Dozens of private paramedical colleges are functional in Srinagar city and other districts of Kashmir where from boys and girls pursue Multipurpose Health worker courses, beside Hundreds of MMPHW degree holders who come from colleges of outside state gets added to the already unemployed lot of MMPHW degree holders.
Experts of Health in Kashmir believe that boys and girls going for short term courses in Health sector must consult experts and those people who work in field so that they can be counseled to choose job oriented course on right time.
