ASIs removed, Inspectors posted as SHOs of Rajbagh, Hiranagar police stations | | | ET Report JAMMU, Dec 4: Following the December 2 Early Times report published under the caption of "ASIs posted as SHOs, Inspectors attached to DPL", the district police administration on Friday replaced two ASIs with Inspectors as heads of police stations. It was pointed out in the news report that it was also unwise from security point of view to post junior officers of the rank of ASIs as SHOs of police stations in Kathua district which "has its large territory with Pakistan". The news report also said that since the Pak-based militants had in the past entered Indian territory from the Kathua's Rajbagh and Hiranagar areas, it would not be good to depend on ASIs or other junior officers for the security of these areas. Taking its cognizance, the Kathua police administration today woke up from its slumber and ordered the posting of Inspector Ajay Jamwal as SHO of Rajbagh police station and Inspector Naveen Aggarwal as SHO of Hiranagar police station. While Jamwal replaced ASI Rachpal Singh, Naveen replaced ASI Bui Dass. Both the police stations are sensitive. The Kathua district has a total of eight police stations. Basohli police station's incharge is also an ASI. Malhar and Bani police stations too have juniors as their incharge. Earlier, only Kathua, Lakhanpur and Billawar police stations had Inspectors as their SHOs. Now, Rajbagh and Hiranagar too have Inspectors as their heads. Only three police stations were now headed by juniors, police sources said. |
