JAMMU, Dec 5 : Jammu District clinched the overall championship trophy by securing highest points in the four-day 12th State Wushu Championship which was organised by J&K Wushu Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today. The second place went to district Samba while Budgam and Srinagar districts shared the overall third spot. The coveted best player trophy bagged by Satinder Singh of Jammu district, who contested in the 65kg weight category. In the valedictory function of the state meet, Minister for Health, Chowdhary Lal Singh was chief guest, who gave away the title trophies and other individual prizes. He also felicitated two state players, Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh (Bronze medal in the 13th World Wushu championship at Jakarta), Kamal Kishore (Bronze medal in the World Traditional Wushu Championship at China) and Rajinder Singh (Bronze medal in the 5th Pars Cup at Iran) as also Khalida Bhanu (Gold medal in the Lusofonia Games and Kuldeep Handoo (National coach of India). Earlier, president of the Association, H K Lohia welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished gathering and requested the Minister for support to the medal winner players, especially, Bhanu Pratap Singh. Prominent among others present were Jahangir Mir (DG DYSS), Ranjeet Kalra (Member State Sports Council and member BCCI), Krupali Singh (member State Sports Council), Deepak Handa and Vijay Saraf (both vice presidents of the Association) as also Kuldeeep Handoo , Ajay Paul Gill, Satish Gupta (manager Indoor Complex) and Daljeet Singh. |
