After NC's electoral rout, Dr Farooq wants to visit Pakistan | | | Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 14: The intentions of National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah to become an ambassador of peace, and go to Pakistan for better Indo- Pak relations have become too obvious. This aspiration of former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir was known to everyone when he during a book launch function at New Delhi said that he would like to go to Pakistan and request the country to stop war against India and allow peace in the region. Though Dr Farooq also trained guns against the UPA regime, accusing it of not allowing the former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to initiate dialogue with Pakistan, he said, Congress was apprehensive that 'yeh sardar hamae dubo dega'. While reiterating his earlier demand of making the LoC permanent border between the two countries, Dr Farooq stated that there would never be the situation when both the Kashmiris will get united. He added that autonomy must be given to both the separated parts of the state . What surprised many during the function was the statement of Dr Farooq, saying he should be allowed to go to the Pakistan and become an 'ambassador of peace'. "I would tell Pakistan that enough is enough. Now let us stop waging war against each other and work for development and prosperity. I would invite them to have wazvan in Kashmir and would take them to see Shalimar and Nishat gardens," Dr Farooq said while speaking at the function. The timing of such pro-Pak rants being issued by the national conference have shocked many. The political pundits have started raising questions about the statements, saying why it always happens that NC from a war monger becomes a party of peace lovers in the state. Substantiating the claims, they say that the National Conference everytime while being JK's ruling party doesn't even favour the Indo -Pak talks leave alone visiting Pakistan and teaching the country about the viability of peace. The PDP has on the other hand has been accusing the NC of being responsible for the hostilities between the two countries. The party has in the series of statements issued from the past years accused NC and in particular Dr Farooq of advocating war between the two countries while ruling the state for decades. The question which is sauntering all across at present is why NC patron is so desperate to visit Pakistan and teach there the essence of peace. |
