Is BJP speaking PDP's language? | | | Muhammad Mukaram Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec: 14: After PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, dropped a bombshell in the state polity, claimed her party consulted Separatists Hurriyat Conference before forming the government with BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, its coalition partner, seemingly, put weight behind the PDP leader's remarks. PDP President and MP, Mehbooba Mufti, while speaking at Agenda Aaj Tak on Saturday in New Delhi said that her party had sought approval from Separatist Hurriyat Conference for the government formation with right wing BJP. "Forming an alliance with the BJP was not easy and took us two months to decide the agenda of alliance. Hurriyat was also called for taking it into confidence," Mehbooba said. Its coalition partner, BJP, however, instead of reacting strongly against the remarks has been indifferent to the PDP leader's revelation which has created a stir. Senior BJP leader Ramesh Arora, said that they have nothing to do with the politics that PDP follows. "We have our own affiliation with RSS and besides, we have formed the coalition on the basis of Common Minimum Program, which we are following," BJPs Kashmir Affairs incharge Arora told Early Times. BJPs Spokesperson Khalid Jahangir said that Hurriyat Conference has no role to play in the government formation but claimed that they have no objection to PDPs position on the issue. "It is not our concern whether they consulted the separatists or not before forming the government. However, Hurriyat, which has no representative character called for the boycott of elections and they have been defeated by people's mandate," Jahangir said. Several questions arise about BJPs stand on the issues made by PDP right from the beginning of the government formation. Whether BJP is putting their weight behind the PDPs remarks or they haven't taken its coalition partner seriously is yet to be ascertained. A day after Mufti Sayeed took oath as chief Minister of the state, raked up controversy by thanking not only Pakistan and militants but Hurriyat Conference for maintaining conducive atmosphere during Assembly polls held last year. Before forming the coalition, has BJP surrendered its own RSS baked ideology before PDP for the sake of assuming power? Because at that time BJP said its leadership has decided not to raise much pitch over the meeting of the PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the senior separatist leader Professor Bhat. Has BJP surrendered before PDP? It is pertinent to mention here that BJP also remained silent on the issue when Mehbooba Mufti recently said that she and her father, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, get deeply hurt by keeping anti-India leader Syed Ali Geelani under house arrest and imposing curfew on Friday in Srinagar's Old City. |
