BJP workers charge leaders with betraying 'nationalists' | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 14: The controversial news report claiming that PDP President Mehbooba Mufti had revealed that Hurriyat conference was taken on board or its consent was sought before formation of PDP-BJP coalition Government in Jammu & Kashmir has rattled many BJP workers and supporters. (The PDP has denied the report attributed to Mehbooba Mufti that the PDP and the BJP sought and got permission from a Hurriyat Conference before forming the coalition government in the state.) The BJP functionaries have thought it proper to keep their mouth shut to avoid controversy. Insiders say that "almost all the party functionaries have realized that the latest development has further dented the image of the party" and that "it would be only proper if they avoid the searching media persons". The reported statements that "With Vajpayee the experience was good, but forming an alliance with the present BJP was not easy for us", that "it took us two months to decide the agenda of alliance' have disturbed, unnerved and angered many BJP workers and supporters, who are quite active on social network. Upset by the development, not one, but many BJP workers and supporters immediately posted a numbers of posts against BJP leaders on social networking sites. The process is going on unabated. Many others have also taken the plunge and lambasted the BJP and exposed its misdeeds and duplicity. The disturbed BJP workers and supporters have been asking the party functionaries and all those who matter to "come clean" and dispel the impression that the "BJP sold the people of Jammu province and their interests. Some BJP supporters' posted on social networking sites have openly charged the party leaders with "betraying nationalist people of Jammu & Kashmir". Many workers and supporters of the BJP have also taken on one party MLA Ravinder Raina and questioned his post on social media that "not Hurriyat, but RSS was consulted on government formation in Jammu & Kashmir". They have tore into Raina for his "attempt at equating the RSS with the Hurriyat". It's not only that many BJP workers and supporters have questioned the very credentials of the so-called nationalist BJP and taken an exception to the development. The people in general have turned against the BJP, with some of them terming the BJP as "an anti-national party". In the meantime, Prof Hari Om, who was expelled from the BJP for his pro-Jammu and pro-India and anti-PDP stands, on Sunday lambasted the BJP high command and asked it to tender an unconditional apology to the nation for what he called the "sin" that it committed against the country. There are many Hari Oms in the BJP, who, according to insiders, "are planning a revolt against the BJP". |
