4th Christmas Soccer Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Dec 4 : Jammu University Football XI registered emphatic win in the inaugural day of the "4th Christmas Soccer Championship for college students and JK Footballers", which got underway at Science College Football Ground here today. The tournament is being organized by Christian Sports Organization and Jammu and Kashmir Police Department. Fr. Kuriakose Chairman Christian Sports Organization was the Chief Guest on the occasion whereas Palaki Anand Manager South Indian Bank and SK Chouhan SP City were the Guests of honour and Vivek Shekar Dy.S.P. Headquarters Jammu was the Special Guest.
The slogan of the tournament is - " Be healthy- Don't Do Drugs".Earlier Fr.Kuriakose, Chairman Christian Sports organization Jammu inaugurated the tournament in an impressive and colourful function and lauded the efforts of the organizing team for conducting this mega event for the College Students and J&K Footballers with the objective to provide opportunity to the youths and students to show cause their talent and helps them to shun drugs. Among others who were present on the occasion are Fr.Shajju Parish Priest St.Peters' Church, Saleem Gill Former MLC , Samuel Bhatti, Gaffoor Masih, Jacob Gill and Kuku Don, The brief details and welcome address was presented by Rajesh Gill, Organizing member and President of the Christian Sports Organization. The Organizing Committee members include Rajesh Gill, Victor Sotra, Asif Gill, RP Singh, Sunny Gill, Nitu Khokher, Sandeep Manchanda. Earlier, in the inaugural Match of the tournament Jammu University Football team trounced Singh Football Club RS Pura by 4-0 goals. The first goal scored by Avinash in 15th minute of the game, second goal also by Avinash in 40th minute, third goal scored by Gagandeep Singh in 48th minute and 4th goal scored by Shubam in 58th minutes of the game thus won the match by 4-0 goals. The referees of the match were Harneel Singh, Pardeep Singh, Ranjay Kumar and Mohinder.
