Jammu, Dec 14 : The seventh annual Rt. Rev. Aziz William Memorial Inter-School Debate Competition was held in the historic 'Cowie Hall' of Alexander Memorial School, Eid-Gah-Residency Road, Jammu on Monday. It was sponsored by The' Alliance of YMCAs of North India' in collaboration with Alexander Memorial School, Jammu. The Proposition of the Debate was-In the opinion of this house 'Men have Failed; let Women Takeover'. Two debaters each from eleven prestigious schools of Jammu comprising St. Mary's Presentation Convent Sr. Sec. School, Gandhi Nagar, Army Public School, Nagrota, St. Xavier's School, Barnai, Delhi Public School, Jammu, Heritage School, Sainik Colony, Jodhamal Public School, Channi Himmat , Army Public School, Satwari, J&K Police Public School, Miran Sahib, S.D. Tarapuri, Gandhi Nagar, JK Montessori School, Alexander Memorial School Jammu, participated in the contest. Neetu Gulati, Former Principal, Govt. Polytechnic College for Boys and Girls, Jammu was the "Chief Guest" and Prof. Dr. Aksa Rao, Women's Post Graduate College of Education, Jammu and Dr. Sudhir Singh, Associate Professor of English, Post Graduate College, Udhampur, were the adjudicators of the Debate. Several distinguished dignitaries also graced the occasion. Earlier Esther William, Principal Alexander Memorial School and Hon. Secretary YMCA, Jammu welcomed the esteemed guests and the learned judges. The Rolling Trophy was bagged by Alexander Memorial School, Jammu and Heritage School, Sainik Colony, Jammu was declared the Runner Up. Medals and Certificates of merit were given to Aviral Kaul of Alexander Memorial School, Jammu for being the best debater, to Mrigu Sambyal of Heritage School, Sainik Colony for being the second best debater, to Saurav Singh of Army Public School, Satwari for being the most promising debater. Best Question to Supriya Bibi of Army Public School, Nagrota, Best Answer to Aaditya Mahajan of Army Public School, Nagrota. Four participants of the Winner and the Runner Up teams were given individual prizes. Besides, the debater who put the most thought provoking question and the debater who gave the most relevant answer thereto were also awarded special prizes. |
