Trader identifies 'acid attack' accused for his unique demand of 'Sticker' | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 4: A shopkeeper, who had fixed 'MANSA' sticker on a car used in acid attack on a student here last year, identified one of the attackers before Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar today. In his statement recorded before the judge, Rashid Ali Dar, the vendor identified the accused, as Mohammad Omar and informed the court that he had asked him to fix the sticker on rear screen of the car which police said was used in the crime. Pertinent to mention here that a 22-year-old law student was attacked with acid near Law College Nowshera Srinagar on December 11 last year and on May 1, the accused were put on trial and the police has charged the accused, Irshad Ahmad Wani alias Sunny and Muhammad Omar, under section 326-B (Voluntarily throwing acid) 120B (criminal conspiracy) RPC. A case (FIR No 136/14) was registered in Police Station Soura under various sections of RPC and police subsequently started investigation of the case. Court was apprised that during the course of investigations Irshad was apprehended first and his sustained interrogation led to the arrest of Omar. The 'MANSA' sticker on the vehicle was one of the important leads which SIT followed in arresting the accused. The High Court has already directed "the competent Court of jurisdiction (to) take all steps for conducting of expeditious trial".
