One is demolished, other remains untouched | Different yardsticks for different encroachments! | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 14: The district administration recently spotted an illegal construction at Sunjwan-Chowadi and got it demolished but on the other hand it has turned a blind eye towards the another illegal encroachment that has surfaced on Khasra Nos 819 and 436 over a Nallah at Sainik Colony where a Khud has allegedly been diverted to suit to the needs of the land mafia allegedly by tampering the land records and that too under the very nose of the revenue officials. It is very astonishing to note that while one encroachment in the area was identified and demolished, the other remains untouched with no government authority taking any action. How the concerned Tehsildar, Naib-Tehsildar, Patwari and police post incharge are not being asked by the government as to why there have been different yardsticks for different encroachments. None of them have so far been held responsible for ignoring the alleged encroachment. It also becomes a conspicuous case of two theories with same logarithm, but treated differently. It is also surprising to note that the no action has been taken against the land mafia active in the area. "How one encroachment becomes illegal and the other is left untouched. This shows that someone in the Revenue department is shielding the land grabbers," official sources said, adding that no punitive action was ever initiated against the corrupt officials who were alleged to have forged the revenue record. The nullah was allegedly constructed with the help of a police officer and a few revenue officials, sources said. Sources claimed that a property dealer had a piece of land at Sainik Colony but the lane connecting it was very narrow. He then approached a police officer and some revenue officials who allowed him to construct a lane on the state land. After the lane became wide, the value of his land increased manifold. "For this whole deal, the property dealer had greased the palms of the concerned officials," sources alleged. |
