SKUAST-TAJ calls on Agriculture Minister | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 14: SKUAST-Teaching Association Jammu under the leadership of its president Dr. Vikas Sharma called on Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today. In the course of their one hour interaction, Minister and the SKUAST-TAJ team discussed various important issues related to the teaching, research and extension of the varsity. The President, Dr. Vikas Sharma apprised the Minister regarding the Carrier Advancement issues related to the teaching and technical staff of both the Universities of Jammu and Kashmir State and requested to support the agenda for the betterment of employees of agriculture varsities. Dr. Vikas demanded opening of College of Dairy Technology and College of Agricultural Engineering as these colleges are the need of the hour which will increase the flow of students in the Institution. General Secretary of the Association Dr. Vivek. M. Arya briefed about the extensive damage caused by the flash floods due to which all the divisions situated on the ground floor in all the eight blocks of Main Campus Chatha were submerged under water upto 3-4 feets height. The Minister while appreciating the efforts of agriculture scientists showed concern for strengthening of existing KVKs/establishment of new KVKs and advised the TAJ team to continuously strive for achieving excellence in teaching, research and ensure dissemination of latest technologies among the farming community to enable them to improve productivity in agriculture and its allied sectors. He further assured full financial and moral support to both the professional/farm universities from the present State Government. |
