Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 15: Rainfed Research Sub Station For Sub Tropical Fruits (RRSS), Raya in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), organised one day training cum demonstration programme on Value Addition of Aonla For Rural Women and unemployed youth. According to press release the programme was held under SERB DST, New Delhi project entitled, "Exploitation of under-utilized fruits of kandi areas of Jammu region through value addition for human resource development" at village Manthal, District Udhampur. The programme was aimed for profitable utilization of Aonla fruit by making its Jam on scientific lines to fetch better market price for this value added product. In this training programme, about 50 rural farm women and unemployed youth from Manthal village participated. Dr. Sanjay Koushal, SMS (Agronomy), KVK, Reasi, SKUAST-J at instigate of the programme extended warm welcome to Smt. Shakuntla Devi, Panch Manthal village, participating rural women, unemployed youth and scientific staff from RRSS, Raya and KVK, Reasi, SKUAST-Jammu. Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Principal Investigator, SERB-DST Project started the training programme and gave details regarding the value addition of Aonla fruit and gave a detailed demonstration for making value added product-Jam of the fruit which is available in the rainfed areas of Udhampur region. The participants were apprised with the technique of value addition of Aonla fruit and its profitable economics. The unemployed youth and farm women were stressed upon to start their own house hold units by starting these types of value addition techniques to make this under-utilized fruit available throughout the year. The participants were satisfied with this new technique of value addition of Aonla fruit by its utilization in the kandi areas as this fruit is available in this area. |
