JU's dual yardstick: Interview for 2 posts, screening test for others | | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 15: The University of Jammu has reportedly adopted a dual approach for recruitment of employees for various posts, according to which for few selective posts, only interviews are being conducted while for some other posts, screening tests have also been conducted. Sources informed Early Times that nearly a year back, the University authorities had advertised nearly two dozen posts in gazetted and non-gazetted cadres. These posts were Technical Assistant in Zoology department, Store keeper for Bhaderwah Campus, Assistant Manager for Guest House of JU, Statistical Officer, Medical Officer, an Assistant Registrar level post for all Campuses of university beside others. "As usual, interviews for all the posts were to be conducted by University but after the change of guard in Jammu University, it was decided to conduct screening test for all other posts, except the post of Technical Assistant in Zoology department and Storekeeper in Bhaderwah campus", sources said. They further informed that for the last nearly one year, aspirants have been waiting for the interviews but now the reports have been pouring in from different quarters that varsity administration was mulling to conduct screening test. "The University is reportedly going to conduct interviews for post of Technical Assistant in Zoology and Storekeeper Bhaderwah campus onDecember 18", sources said, but there was no word from the administration regarding the filling of remaining posts. Sources further said that recently General Administration Department (GAD) had issued two separate notifications and had directed all government departments to implement SRO 438 and SRO 439 of Constitution for making necessary amendments in recruitment rules and had directed to conduct screening test for all posts but Jammu University has been showing thumb to dictates of government also and has selectively conducting interviews. "The aspirants said that University should comply with the order of GAD and conduct screening test instead of conducting interview for selective posts", they said. An official of varsity, who was not authorized to talk to media said that varsity conducted only interviews for the posts, against which applicants were fewer than six. "Whenever the number of candidates crosses this figure, University conducts screening test. In the above mentioned posts, the number of candidates is less than six while in others number is more than limit, so screening test for shortlist the candidates will be conducted followed by interviews", he said, adding that there was no selected approach but a general rule. |
