DE&CC fails to maintain unemployed youth register 12/16/2015 12:04:52 AM Arun Singh Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 15: Several District Employment and Counseling Centers have not maintained their unemployed youth registration register for past many years thus showing inflated unemployment figure every year. Sources told Early Times that the unemployed educated youth of the state get themselves registered in the District Employment and Counseling Centers across the state and same is recorded in the live register by the department for availing benefit from various schemes launched by the government. "While registration process, unemployed youth get a receipt and their information is registered in the live register. The registered unemployed youth had to renew their registration after every three years failing which their registration is cancelled but the height of the negligence of District Employment and Counselling Centers is ostensibly clear by the fact that many centers have not maintained the live register for many years consecutively by deleting the registration thereby wrong figure reflects in their documents," they said. They further said that District Employment and Counseling Centers including Reasi, Poonch, Doda, Kulgam and Ganderbal which were found without updated information i.e. deleting the names of unemployed youth who failed to renew their registration for past three year thereby inflating the figure by 400 per cent. Meanwhile, counselling sessions for unemployed youth which had to hold periodically at every center but in Reasi and Doda only two such sessions were held. Moreover, many DE&CCs are running from rented accommodation.
