JMC Commissioner visits Bhagwati Nagar | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 15: Jammu Municipal Corporation, Commissioner today conducted tour at Bhagwati Nagar along with Officers of JMC in light of the Dharna given by the local residents led by Dharamvir Singh Jamwal, Ex. Deputy Mayor, JMC. It was explained by her to the local residents that waste segregation and plantation at Bhagwati Nagar site is being done in pursuance of directions of "National Green Tribunal" (NGT) and Hon'ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir who have directed Jammu Municipal Corporation to devise integrated Solid Waste Management Project in Jammu City and clear Tawi catchment area with plantation and the land site. For this purpose 100 kanals of land stands transferred to Jammu Municipal Corporation from UEED and fencing is being done and plantation exercise has already been started. There are three proposals for re-cycling and disposal of waste are compost from biodegradable waste, energy from non-biodegradable waste, bricks from construction waste. Six months deadline has been fixed by the Jammu Municipal Corporation in an affidavit filed before National Green Tribunal and necessary clearance for the same are being obtained. |
