Veeri to move privilege motion against SDM Dooru, officers | | | Early Times Report
Anantnag, Dec 15: Member of legislative Council Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri on Tuesday threatened to move privilege motion against the officers including Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dooru for not attending the scheduled meeting at Verinag. Dr Veeri said that he had well in time informed Deputy Commissioner Anantnag about the meeting but the officers didn't turn up at venue. "A day before I informed Deputy Commissioner Anantnag that I will be visiting Dooru assembly segment on Tuesday to take stock of the people's problems. Accordingly SDM and officials of several other departments were asked to accompany me during the visit but not a single officer turned up at the venue which is contempt of House," Veeri told Early Times. He said that he had asked officials of PHE, Food and Supplies Department, Power Development Department, Rural Development Department and officers of other departments to remain present but no one among them except AEE R&B turned up there. He threatened to move a privilege against the officers including SDM Dooru for not attending the meeting and accompanying him during the visit. "People are facing acute shortage of electricity and other basic amenities but the officers on the directions of ruling party are not paying any heed to grievances of public which is unacceptable," Veeri added. He said that he tried to contact deputy commissioner Anantnag during the visit but he didn't bother to reply to his calls and texts messages. |
