PDP-BJP coalition making mockery of Governance: Omar | | | SRINAGAR, Dec 23: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today accused the PDP-BJP coalition government of making a mockery of good governance by appointing two persons as principals of Government Medical College, Srinagar. "Making a mockery of #GoodGovernance - CM J&K appoints 1 (one) Dr (doctor) as principal of Govt Medical College, Health Minister another. Institution suffers!" Omar wrote on Twitter. Omar's comments came after Dr Rafiq Ahmad Pampori and Dr Kaiser Ahmad laid claim to the post of Principal of the Medical College. Last week, the Health Department appointed Kaiser as incharge Principal of the Medical College after the incumbent, Pampori, proceeded on leave and also sought voluntary retirement from service. Pampori had said he was not happy with the way things were being run at the hospital. He had also claimed that he was not consulted about important decisions like appointment of Medical Superintendent in one of the associated hospitals. Pampori met Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed two days after proceeding on leave. While there was no official word from the government about the meeting, the former Principal on Monday withdrew his application for voluntary retirement and faxed his 'joining report' to the Health Department in Jammu. However, Kaiser refused to quit the post saying he will continue till the government issues an order to that effect. Commenting on the development, Omar said it was now a clash of egos between the Chief Minister and Health Minister Chaudhary Lal Singh, who is from the BJP. "It's now a clash of egos & a PDP v/s BJP battle. Who gets to decide what's correct - the Chief Minister or the Minister concerned?" he said. |
