Three siblings killed in mysterious blast in Udhampur

Udhampur, Dec 23: in a tragic incident three siblings (all minor) on Wednesday were killed in mysterious blast which took place inside a scrap dealer's shop near Birma Bridge in Udhampur police have registered case in this regard. The deceased have been identified as Vikas (15), Deepu (10) and Meeshu (07) all sons of Bhola Ram resident of Gandari district Ramban presently at Birma Pull (bridge).
According to police sources, three minor brothers died this afternoon when they were fiddling with an explosive device which suddenly exploded near shop of a scrap dealer near Birma Bridge in village Tarnoti of Udhampur. "Initial investigations reveal that all these minor children were scrap pickers and had picked up two 5 mm mortar shells which were the part of the scrap collected from the shop, sources said.
"Further they took it to a distant place and tried to break it to get the metal which resulted into a blast killing three on the spot, sources said. After hearing explosion, the locals residing nearby locality rushed to the spot and saw charred bodies scattered around in an area of 100 meters.
The father of deceased who used to work in the nearby crusher was immediately called upon and he identified all the bodies. Meanwhile Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur, Sulaman Choudhary said that three minors were killed in a scrap shop near Brima bridge when they were fiddling with an explosive device in scrap shop which exploded mysteriously .
He added that after getting the information senior police officers and FSL team rushed to the spot and which also started investigation to ascertain how live mortar shell reached to scrap shop. He added that all the three bodies were shifted to District Hospital (DH) Udhampur and will be handed over to family members after conducting autopsy and other legal formalities.
Meanwhile Intelligence agencies are trying to find out from where the scrap dealer procured the consignment that contained mortar shells.
