Jammu, Dec 23: More than 18000 casualities have been reported till Dec 2014 in last two decades of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, according to a report. Jammu and Kashmir has been affected by militancy since 1990 and during this period the state has witnessed 18826 killings including 13,904 civilians and 4, 922 security personnel. The data released by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) further disclosed that in last four years 950 incidents of violence were reported across the state. In these incidents 256 people were lost their lives which included 171 security personnel and 85 civilians. However, 327 militants were also eliminated in these incidents. In year 2011, 340 incidents of violence were witnessed. In these incidents 64 people were killed including 33 security personnel and 31 civilians. However, 100 militants were also neutralized. In year 2012, 220 incidents of violence were reported across the state. In these incidents 49 people were killed including 38 security personnel and 11 civilians. However, 50 militants were also gun down across the state. In year 2013, 170 incidents of violence were reported. In these incidents 68 people were killed including 53 security personnel and 15 civilians. However, 67 militants were also eliminated in these incidents. In year 2014, 222 incidents of violence were witnessed. In these incidents 75 people were killed including 47 security personnel and 28 civilians. However, 110 militants were also eliminated in these incidents. The data further revealed that the year 2014, recorded an increase in terrorist incidents and casualties of civilians as compared to the previous year. However, causalities of security forces personnel decreased in comparison to 2013. Moreover, 64.18 percent more terrorists have been neutralized in comparison to the year 2013. |
