Edu Minister's order for clubbing of schools dishonored with impunity | | | A B Sharma
Early Times Report
Sunderbani, Dec 23: While the state education ministry has released strict orders to the chief education officer Rajouri to identify the schools with weak attendance within one-kilometer radius to be clubbed together to save upon the state exchequer, the order is being thrown to winds with impunity. The glaring example of such impunity is being watched tehsil Sunderbani where some of the zonal education officers have refused to release the list of the schools n the one kilometer vicinity only to appease their relatives working in such schools as teachers and enjoying the government money.. "It is only to provide benefit to their relatives working as teachers in these schools that some of the zonal education officers have failed to provide the list of the schools to the chief education officer and thus are ignoring the government order," said ZEO Lower Hathal and Sunderbani tehsil. It is pertinent to mention that nearly 50 to 100 schools are operating in tehsil Sunderbani that fall within the ambit of one-kilometer radius for which the education ministry has passed an order to be clubbed. The Education Minister Naeem Akhtar in his recent order issued for the government schools have mentioned that schools running under low attendance and falling under the one kilometer radius are required to be clubbed to save the state exchequer and enhance the education quality of the area so that students hailing from different areas could be maintained under one roof for better education facility. Talking to Early Times, Education Minister Naeem Akhtar said since he has issued stern orders to abide, if any of his official fails to comply with the same, he would be bound to face the litmus test. "Nobody found guilty would be spared at any cost. I have issued the orders and the same needs to be honored with. Bring me proofs of the officials not abiding by it so that I can initiate action against them," said Naeem Akhtar while talking to Early Times. Meanwhile some of the principals wishing anonymity said that instead of clubbing the schools, the departments in the education ministry are seeking payments for more buildings and construction of toilets under the swachh bahrat abhiyan which is a fluke to siphon off the money from the ministry. The Chief education officer Rajouri, Mohammad Altaf when contacted on this issue said that he would dig into the facts and figures on this account and if anybody found guilty would be brought to books. "I will not spare any departmental officer indulged in siphoning off the state exchequer in the name if the unwanted constructions. And if anyone is found , he would be booked under the criminal act," said Mohammad Altaf. |
