Kishtwar, Dec 23: Police and other agencies have stepped up vigil in and around the town here after a poster, that was written in Urdu, asked people to take out 'eid milad march' on Thursday. The eid milad march was last held in the town over two decades back, ie in 1993. The call for it has been given by lesser known Allah-e-Sunat-Wal-Jammat outfit through a poster which carries an appeal for the people to participate in the march at Jamia Masjid, Kishtwar, on Thursday at 11 am. Even Kishtwar police and administration are unaware of the organization which is believed to be headed by some government official. As per the poster, a copy of which is available with Early Times, the march, after passing through the main areas of the town, would cumulate at the shrine of 17th century Sufi saint Hazrat Shah Mohammad Fareed-ud-Din Baghdadi. Meanwhile, Security has been put on high alert in the Kishtwar district to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion. Additional cops had been deployed in the town and outside religious places. Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Ghulam Nabi Balwan and SSP, Kishtwar, Sandeep Wazir also held a meeting with Imams and representatives of Muslim community at the DC office, Kishtwar, where administration conveyed its massage to them with regard to maintenance of peace and communal harmony in the district in view of the proposed march to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (SAW). Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo briefed the administration about the programme and assured full cooperation to administration and police with regard to maintaining peace and communal harmony in the area. Moulvi Qayoom Mattoo, Hafiz Manzoor Ganie and Syed Shabir Ahmed raised other issues and demanded the arrest of the 'anti-social' elements. Police and administration assured them that law of the land would be used to deal with such persons. ASP, Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom, ADC, Kishtwar, Kishori Lal, Dy SP HQ Touseef Ahmed, ADC (retd) Kishtwar, Raiz Zarger and Tanveer Mintoo were among those who participated in the meeting.
